Getting Started
When you first log in, Assistloft walks you through a short setup wizard before unlocking your dashboard, CRM, and assistant tools. This page explains what each step is for and what you’ll need on hand.
Your dashboard stays locked behind a Workspace setup prompt until the four required steps below are complete. You can leave the wizard at any point and resume later from the onboarding checklist on your dashboard.
Required setup
Your user profile
Your name, title, and contact email. This identifies you as a team member inside the workspace and is used wherever your account is referenced (for example, when other teammates see who handled a conversation).
- First and last name
- Title (e.g. Owner, Operations Lead, Support Manager)
Want a profile picture? That’s not part of the wizard — upload one anytime from your User Profile page in Settings.
Your company profile
Your business identity — this is the record your Assistant draws on to answer questions accurately, so the more complete it is, the better your Assistant performs from day one.
- Company name, email, and phone numbers
- A short company description (“About”) that gives your Assistant context on your products and services
- Business address, used in customer-facing responses
The remaining two required steps are locked until your company profile is saved — Assistloft needs to know about your business first.
Customer settings
Workspace-wide defaults shared by your Assistant and every team member.
- Language and timezone
- The initial greeting your Assistant uses to welcome customers (optional — defaults to “Hello! How can I help you?” if left blank)
Web & social links
Your website and social profiles. These power quick-links in your chat widget and give your Assistant somewhere to point customers for more detail.
- Website and FAQ page
- Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Bluesky, Pinterest
Once all four are saved, your dashboard unlocks and the setup wizard won’t prompt you again.
Optional, but recommended
After required setup, your onboarding checklist keeps a few more items on deck. These aren’t required to unlock the dashboard, but each one makes your Assistant more useful out of the gate:
- Set your business hours — so your Assistant knows when you’re open
- Create an API key — generated automatically; just confirm it
- Deploy your assistant — connect it to your site or social channels
What’s next
With setup complete, the best next step is building your Knowledge Base — the questions and answers your Assistant uses to respond to customers accurately. You can add these by hand one at a time, or import them in bulk from a PDF or a webpage (like your FAQ page) so your Assistant learns from content you’ve already written.
